Silver Rupee coins are a collector's treasure. They are sold for a thousand rupees each. Keep it, it may be worth millions, in the hands of your grand-children !
My father had huge silver-pots full of such coins. During the British rule, all coins were of silver or copper, in the case of the anna pieces. Quarter, half and one-rupee coins were wholly of silver. I have seen Goldsmiths in Kalpathy melting these to make silver articles for various uses.
